Sync & Import
Export your library from your previous app in text-based formats like .onsong, .txt, or .pro (ChordPro), tap Import in Set Sidekick, and select your folder.
While Set Sidekick can store static .pdf documents, importing text-based files is strongly recommended to unlock the app's dynamic stage engine. Unlike a fixed PDF image, text-based charts allow you to:
Toggle chords on or off instantly for clean lyric-only views.
Transpose keys on the fly without retyping.
Apply dynamic text scaling that fits any iPad or iPhone screen without awkward horizontal scrolling.
Render interactive vocal colors and inline gear badges ([HIT], [ON], [OFF]) that never shift or un-link from the lyrics.
Yes. Set Sidekick uses native iCloud database syncing to keep your songs, setlists, and custom color tags identical across all your iOS devices automatically. The only exception is if you use backing tracks, they are not transfered.
Place your song files or OnSong backup files into a folder in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or your iPad's Files app. Open Set Sidekick, tap Import > Folder, and select your directory. Our memory-optimized import engine handles thousands of files in a single pass without crashing or running out of RAM.
No. Set Sidekick features automatic memory purging during batch imports to easily handle massive libraries (even 10,000+ files) without crashing or running out of RAM.
Yes. Using Set Sidekick’s iOS Share Extension, you can share any web page or chord tab directly from Safari or the Ultimate Guitar app. Tap the iOS Share button, select Set Sidekick, and the app will instantly create a draft song with auto-extracted title, artist, and chord data.
While Set Sidekick can store and render static PDFs, text-based files unlock our dynamic stage engine. Text charts allow you to transpose chords instantly on stage, hide/show chord symbols, scale font sizes freely without off-screen cropping, and lock vocal colors or gear cues ([HIT], [ON], [OFF]) directly to the lyrics.
Cloud Syncing & Band Sharing
Set Sidekick uses native, encrypted iCloud syncing tied directly to your Apple ID. Any song edit, setlist reordering, color formatting tag, or gear note created on your iPad syncs automatically to your iPhone—no third-party accounts or manual exports required.
No. Once your library syncs via iCloud, all songs and setlists are stored locally on your device's internal storage. You can perform in venues with zero Wi-Fi or cellular service with full access to your entire library, speech search, and metronome tools.
You can export individual songs or entire setlists as native Set Sidekick bundle files, standard ChordPro text, or printable PDFs. Send them via AirDrop, Messages, or Mail directly to your bandmates during rehearsal so everyone is playing from the exact same arrangement.
